Pre-shipping update

Snowgums Festoon lighting for hire

Excitement is building at Snowgums.

The last of the rustic wedding hire equipment is delivered tomorrow (Monday 14th January 2019).

The only piece still to arrive at the shipping point, last to arrive, is the Marquee.

Unsurprisingly the marquee, measuring 10m x 25m is biggest item.

It is also the heaviest taking up a wopping 7m3 and weighing several tonnes in total.

Apparently the theory is that the biggest is loaded last.  Straight off the truck and into the container.

This minimises handling given its weight and bulk.

Once loaded into the container, the container and its products are fumigated and sent.

So it seems we are now all but in readiness for the goods to sail from Shenzhen to Sydney?

Arrival

The container’s arrival at Snowgums is due roughly the week of 4th February 2019.

The first wedding is booked for Snowgums on the 23rd February 2019 for the gorgeous bride Jess (and Chris).

Equipment news

Today’s exciting arrival at our depot in Foshan China was our sparkling LED festoon lighting, LED fluorescent and LED strip lighting (pictured).

Snowgums has bought roughly 200m of festoon lighting plus a shipload of spare bulbs.

It has also bought LED fluorescent lighting (as a budget alternative) plus LED strip lighting – similar by cooler than fairy style lights.  These will be used to decorate the marquee’s exterior.  A range of other decorative items are also available for hire.

Web updates

Visitors to our website may also have noticed some changes.

We are setting up some tools to enable event organisers to request a quote more easily.

The tools are still a work in progress and will go fully live by early February.

In the meantime organisers can request a quote via email or phone 1300-12snow (1300-127669) or using our registration form.

A chilling announcement …

Snowgums Group owners, Mark & Lisa Smith have just returned from a buyer trip to Guangzhou, China to launch amongst other things Snowgums Ice. Shipping containers of equipment are on their way to Mt Canobolas.

The trips purpose was to procure event assets ready for the launch of Snowgums Events. We’ll be hosting rustic marquee weddings under the banner of Snowgums Events on the lush volcanic slopes of Mt. Canobolas.  Further blogs listing items purchased will be published in over coming weeks.

Mark in particular is excited about what is hidden away in these boxes.  To his knowledge its the only (and probably the largest capacity) cubed ice machine operating on the slope of Mt. Canobolas.

The machine’s specs enable it to produce about half a tonne (500kg) of cubed Snowgums Ice per day.

That’s around 100 x 5kg bags per day, enough to chill a serious amount of beer, wine, sparkling or otherwise.

Snowgums’ is blessed with amazing water resources.

Snowgums water assets

We drilled a bore in June 2017 and hit the jackpot.  Our drillers divined (sometimes called water dowsing) 2 x 20m (each) permanently flowing creeks intersected under our land.

“It was quite amazing.  One of our neighbours up the hill has now drilled in 4 spots, at huge expense, and found 4 separate piles of dust, so we count our blessings”, Mark said.

Snowgums spring water is pumped from deep underground and consumed by thirsty guest and soon shall be frozen into cubed ice for consumption.

“There’ll be a serious amount of drinks chilled by Snowgum Ice’ machine” Mark said.  “Probably a fair few hangovers as a result?” he continued.

What’s new at Snowgums Events?

Mark, a final year law student at the University of Sydney and resident of Beecroft, is hoping to more permanently be based at Snowgums from February 2019. This will assist Snowgums Events to better coordinate and host some of the events our guests are planning.

“It must be a New Year’s thing, our website has been hit hard by couples planning to wed this year and next for about a month straight.  It’s been quite amazing,” Mark said.

Mark hopes spending more time at Nashdale will give him the chance to meet more surround local business owners. He’d like to supply ice to them for their events and private usages and look for ways to support each others businesses. These could be local wineries, Nashdale Hall, Nashdale School or private persons wanting spring ice available close at hand.  Snowgums plans to buy plenty of local wines and are gearing up to obtain a liquor licence in order to meet event demand.

About Mt Canobolas

According to Wiradjuri legend, Mt. Canobolas is a place renowned for healing. It has many native plant species, including some species unique to the mountain.

Mark believes, as do the Wiradjuri people, that the soils of the mountain are blessed. This is evidenced from the fertile and productive agriculture grown nearby.  Mark hopes Snowgums Ice, made from Canobolas underground spring waters, will also have similar rich, fertile and beneficial properties.

How to order Snowgums Ice

Business owners or nearby residents wishing to place regular ice orders / deliveries from February 2019 can contact Snowgums on 1300-12snow (1300-127669) or email:  mark@snowgumsgroup.com

Announcing Snowgums Barn

Snowgums Group today has published its plans for agribusiness use of the Snowgums site, located at 299 Nancarrow Lane, Nashdale – just a short drive out of Orange, NSW.

Owners Mark & Lisa Smith have lodged with Cabonne Council today their development application under its Agribusiness brand, Snowgums Barn.

The development seeks consent for:

  • An agricultural produce storehouse – intended for storage of barleys, hops, bulk wine storage, fodders and similar.
  • Food processing, commercial kitchen and cold storage.
  • Staff and guest amenities.

The food processing use is located adjacent to Orange’s cherry, apple and fruit and vegetable production regions and expects to operate on a seasonal basis, processed fruits being frozen, stored and later value added.

Out of season, Mark & Lisa seek approval to establish a micro-brewery to produce beers for the Orange ‘wine-trail’ as a little bit of something different.  In readiness, Mark has registered the brand Canobolas Brewing, with all inputs grown and brewed on the slopes of the rich volcanic soils of Mt. Canobolas.

“It should be something unique, something you can only enjoy in our region, from our region.  The Kosciuszko beer of the Central West.  I actually swim laps with a guy called Chuck Hahn who brewed that beer, which I love, and it got me thinking … why not do something that is uniquely the beer taste of our region?  We’ve got ”

The barn will include a small beer tasting area and cellar door open to visitors as they tour the nearby Printhie, De Salis, Nashdale Lane, Rowlee and other vineyards.

“It’ll be intimate with outstanding rural landscape views over the district”, Smith said.
